i have a 02 JETTA gli the car came with the sport suspension i just changed the springs with wietec and lowered the car 1.25 all around and kept the shock and strut stock but now the car is making a lot of clingy noices and the car is making a lot of boom noices when i go over potholes and such and i hate it
heres what i need help with _ i need a suspension that is a little lower not too much but i want the car to ride like a cadillac and very smooth and better cornering and stuff ( you know better than stock ) i don't want to jump into spending money and regret it
SO GUYS PLEASE HELP ME OUT AND GIVE ME SOME GOOD ADVICES HELP ME OUT FROM THIS DILEMMA

Re: all the suspension guru's please help (GLIMAN2)

If you do any research, you will see that your requests are impossible. Better handling or lower, not both. The Wietec springs will never give good handling and the stock shocks arent good for anything! Determine what your priorites are first and then see if you can test drive cars with similar setups to see if they suit your needs. Dont buy anything until you know what you need!

Re: all the suspension guru's please help (SRSVW)

Dick summed it up for you....any mk4 car jetta/gti/bettle you cannot lower if you want it to handle or ride nicely. Lowering it more than it is now will only make it ride worse. Thats what the silly long thread at the top of the suspension page talks all about. Want a nice riding and excellent handeling car?
Buy from Dick Shine...www.srsvw.com
I did on my 2003 1.8t GTI and couldnt be happier. Yes it's a lil pricey, but as you can see you didnt save much money by taking the cheap way out the 1st time did you? So save up for a few extra months it will be well worth the wait....I promise

Re: all the suspension guru's please help (GLIMAN2)

First, a Mkiv chassis can NEVER give you a Caddy-like ride. Here's why:
- Wheel base is too short
- Lack of true suspension subframes
- Rear suspension is not independent
- Mkiv sprung weight is too light
Second, as said, you can't lower and increase ride comfort simultaneously.
Third, some options to think about...
- Keep OEM ride height and replace stock dampers with better aftermarket ones... Bilstein TC (comfort), Bilstein HD (better performance & still comfortable)
- Eibach ProSystem or ProSystem+: these kits lowers the ride height about 1.25" and includes both springs & dampers that were designed for each other. The ProSystem+ includes F/R swaybars for better cornering. These kits combine comfort and handling for daily use.

Re: all the suspension guru's please help (GLIMAN2)

You don't wanna go lower, maybe upto 1.5", but that's the most anyeone recommends. I'd say since you already have springs and if you can install things yourself or cheap, just get some good shocks (Bilstein or Koni) and see if it works for you, if not, then get another springs that matches your requirement (Shine, H&R, Nuespeed, Eibach). Any lowering spring with stock shocks is a bad combo.

Re: all the suspension guru's please help (Cadenza_7o)

I'm not far from Mt Vernon, and do a lot of suspension installs....A couple of things:
1) the stock shocks can't handle the weitec springs, so your ride will never be good
2) The closest setuo to what you want is the Eibach Pro-System. I've installed a bunch....good ride/handling compromise
