Comes with the boot and plastic trim for the newer models. To fit it in the earlier mk6 u have to remove the boot from the plastic retaining clip and just tuck it back in. Also have to cut about 1" off the stock shifter. Real easy to do. I bought a $11 tubing cutter from a local hardware store. It similar to the mk7 knob. If u google mk7 knob in a mk6 youll see some install threads.
I have a 12 gli, and just did what i said, to get it to work. You dont have to cut the shifter down, but if you dont it sits higher. Im not sure how to separate the knob from the boot. Im sure its possible but i didn't want to ruin it
