Has anyone else experienced this little gem?
The fuel pump is held in the plastic fuel pump housing/reservoir by three screws. The three screws rust cracking the housing just a little, enough to create a slow but steady fuel leak.
I had assumed the issue was with the O ring around the fuel pump, but no. I have two housings and both have similar cracks, though each has it in a different screw hole. This is one of those things I haven't experienced before, I presume I am not the only one?
Was anyone able to fix the crack in a way that allows them to use the original housing? Many thanks.

Re: Fuel pump housing crack (kmead)

So, given that the dealer wasn't open over the weekend and there wasn't a donor car at the boneyard, I found I had to make do with what I had.
First I cleaned the area out with carb cleaner and then carved out a bit more material so there was more than just a hairline crack. Using some trusty black silicone from Permatex, I filled the hole with a screw already in place and smoothed the area out.
Let sit for 2 hours and reassemble. So far, no leak. Time will tell. I will get the second housing cleaned up and siliconed in preparation for a new leak to develop. Hopefully not.
I will also get info on what the replacement cost for the housing is, unless someone can enlighten me. Have a good day.
