I've never heard of the long beaches pitting and having clearcoat problems...but it wouldn't surprise me. I have the carlos and last week I just got them back from being refinished under warranty. It took 3 stops at the dealership to get them to cover the refinishing. My suggestion is don't back down. Bumper to bumper for 4 years means wheels too. I ended up waiting till a warranty rep came around to visit my dealership because the rep at the dealership basically blew me off and walked away from me. When the service rep asked the warranty rep about the wheels his answer was simple...
service rep " Don't you want to look at them?" warranty rep "Nope, have them refinished."
The wheels are known for having problems, so just keep going to a higher authority to try to get somewhere. You'll be glad you did. Im really happy how my wheels look.

4. wash down again with dilluted dawn
5. use a old soft bristle tooth brush for those hard to get spots
6. dry and use 3M automotive adhesive/tar remover
7. use a wheel polish or some Rejex
8. let coating cure a few hours
While you have the wheel off you might as well get a wire bristle brush to get rid of some of the rust on the hub.

WOW i just got off the phone with vw gunther coconutcreek. i had mentioned david klaus before. he called his adjusters and emailed the pics. they told him that they will replace any wheel affected.

. they also said that this has been a comon problem with sevral vw wheels. they then told him that if for some reason they cant get the longbeach wheel for replacement they would go ahead and give me a rims of my choice. i hope they have the longbeach cause that truly is one of my favs. so any way they saw the pic..acknowledged the prob and are now going to fix it. way to go vw.
