I gotta say that's a metric crap ton of miles I wouldn't want to spend in any vehicle, but the Fiesta isn't at the bottom of the list.
Probably not a lot of risk given that it's basically impossible to be seated for more then 4-5 hours without needing to get out, fill up, pee, etcI wonder what the risk of DVT is from sitting in a car seat this long every day...
...anyway, this is the one of the more interesting posts/threads I've come across on TCL lately.
I'm not sure of the degree of risk, but long car travel does increase it. In the ED where I work, one of the screening questions for this kind of thing is whether you've recently gone on a long trip by car, a long flight etc. Basically anything where you're seated in a confined space for hours on end, especially when you might drive 4-5 hours, get out for 5-10 minutes to refuel/pee, then get back in and do that again repeatedly.Probably not a lot of risk given that it's basically impossible to be seated for more then 4-5 hours without needing to get out, fill up, pee, etc
I'm assuming the majority of the miles he put on the car were highway miles with very little shifting, which wouldn't wear out a conventional clutch eitherInteresting that he only had to change clutch packs twice on that period. A conventional clutch would have had to be changed maybe twice that amount?

Unless it's a large, square box, I would bet the sedan has larger storage area. The hatch is tiny.Thats cool, but it's driving my OCD crazy to wonder why he bought the sedan instead of the much more practical hatchback. I mean, he bought it JUST to transport cargo. Why buy the sedan?
Wow. Also oil change every two weeks guy must buy 44 Gallon drums of it :laugh:116,000 miles per set of Pirelli P4 tires
Since almost all of the mileage was presumably highway mileage, the clutch linings on a dual-clutch automatic or manual transmission should last far more miles than on a car used mainly for city driving.Goes to show that even tin can Fiestas can be very reliable in our era of cars now. Everyone is always afraid of making 100k miles when doing so in pretty much any car is possible (yes, even the RX-8).

The article does not show the driver. Perhaps he is average height and skinny, in which case the Fiesta is plenty roomy.Either way, goes to show what can be done when maintenance is done right. Also, 16 hours a day driving is not good for anyone's health, especially not in a cramped Fiesta. :/
I'm an average-ish six-footer, and the front seats of a Fiesta is fine. (They're one of my favorite rental cars.) It's the back seats that are short on legroom. The article does not show the driver. Perhaps he is average height and skinny, in which case the Fiesta is plenty roomy.
This is quite true. That said, I've seen references to folks with various hatchbacks removing the back seats and turning the whole back into a flat load floor. In the Fiesta's case, simply folding the seats doesn't help, as the rear seat bottoms don't tip forward to allow the seatbacks to drop flush with the rest of the rear floor. There's about a 4 inch step from the hatch floor area to the folded down rear seats.Unless it's a large, square box, I would bet the sedan has larger storage area. The hatch is tiny.
Wow. Unless she's on his maintenance program, too. :laugh:That's kinda what I was thinking...
I guess his wife is pretty low maintenance too, or she gets serviced elsewhere.
I'd love to see some borescope footage of that motor.I'm amazed at the fact that the engine has had no major internal service at all.

At that point you price it according to its parts value because it's not worth much more. How do you price a car with close to 750,000 miles on it in the used market? Also Ford should have scooped this up as advertising and got this guy a new car.

Wrong. That's a VW TSI/FSI with 100K miles
