I just attended some work training in Irvine, and passed the Mazda HQ several times, wondering what good stuff might be inside.

By the way, Irvine's a bit of an odd place. Kind of a Stepford or Westworld vibe going on there.

On a side note, the Spec Racer is $54K delivered. Pretty damn good deal actually for a fully prepped race car. I asked about the rear finish panels for people that want to run a hard top and want to clean up the look of the soft top area and the Mazda rep said that those panels should be available on Mazda Motorsport's website as an add on. But he didn't give a concrete yes answer.

Vat is dis?
Also called "cross-traffic alert." If you're an inferior being who pulls into parking spots instead of backing in, cross-traffic alert lets you know if cars or people are coming down the aisle while you're backing out. You can't look left and right at the same time, so it does come in handy, even with a small car.

Some of the white-haired crowd in the room probably need it on anything they drive.

TWO old guys in red polos, khaki shorts with phone holsters, and baseball hats! One of them even has the shirt tucked in. Take THAT, Couture Lounge!
Yeppers, those two are the prime Miata demographics. That's why the insurance is so cheap compared to something like the Mustang. They are the reason why the Miata is still goin' strong 'til this day  They are the reason why youtube isn't filled with Miata getting into wrecks while trying to drift and plowing into groups of people

It would have been the crowning touch if that guy was rockin' the white socks with those sandals. Then he would have been officially in the old-man mode.

Backing in doesn't make much sense when you're buying groceries or something.

one of the 2 old guys in red shirt is Mark Booth. He's like.. a God on the Miata forums.
It's laughable that anyone on a forum would be considered God like, let alone a Miata forum, let alone Miata.net, which has come to be known by the derogatory term "the Pointy Board" for good reason. Over the years they've spawned at least a dozen competitors by people banished or just annoyed by Gary and his team. That being said, I don't know the guy personally. But yeah, lots of different kinds of people drive Miatas and it's fun to stereotype: wine & cheese couple, old dude reliving his youth, track junky, turbo junky, DIY junky, auto-x junky, drifter, concours guy, OEM is best guy, smiley teeth grill guy/ googley eye headlamp cover guy, ricer dude, style bar dude, slammed/stance bro dude, vintage wannabe dude, JDM dude, poor high-school/college student's first RWD car dude, V8 Miata dude, pink sparkle Barbie Miata girl, art car weirdo, NA is best guy, drive topless forever guy, hardtop only guy, etc.

That rustles my jimmies so much, it should get its own thread. It's easier to drive into a parking spot because you can see easily where you're going. And it's easier to back out of one, because all that space behind you and people see your backup lights as a sign you're about to move. And all those people who falsely assume they're superior for backing into a spot are usually taking forever and a half to get in there. Also, blowing exhaust fumes towards people on sidewalks or towards people's houses isn't nice either.
