Re: Rust proof? (spoonie)

I take my car to Reg's Auto Refinishing at the corner of Kennedy Road and Danforth. The guy's been doing rust proofing at his location for like 30 odd years. Takes him over an hour to rust proof the car, and he really gets all the important areas... Uses a thick chemical oil spray for the bottom of the car and a thin spray for the rest of the car...

Re: Rust proof? (pladwa)

I go to Krown also. Car has been there since new and its still sporting the original paint without any rust!!!! I usually go around end of October, beginning of November so the oils can flow on the panels while its still warm out.

thanks for the info guys
i guess i will be going to Krown this october
just wondering do they have to drill any hole to spray inside the door?

they may, or they may not i think that all depends on the car.

Re: Rust proof? (16vRocket)

Crown? Meh, I think Ziebart is better! Crown uses a oil spray were Ziebart uses a thick coating like honey. That stuff works the best! The only problem about it is when the heat hits it it starts to melt and drip.

on the other hand, a friend of mine has never had his car rust proofed, 93 Cadillac. Instead he religiously washes his car at least twice a week. No rust.

$105 = 35 $3 car washes = 17.5 weeks of cleanliness. I'll do that.

Re: Rust proof? (trh)

Just reading up on Krown's website that they spray in your engine bay.. wtf I try and keep a clean engine bay. Do they really coat everything in there or is it just in inconspicuous locations?

Re: Rust proof? (ZoomBoy)

i'm sort of worried about something...
my car has a couple of rust spots, that according to georgetown, should be covered under warrantee. i have to wait till the vw canada rep. comes by and approves the work on my car before they can do any repairs....however, i want to rust proof the car before the white stuff starts falling and i get salt all over the car. the dealership has stipulated that i should have the rep. take a look at the car before getting it rust proofed, but i'm really worried that if i don't rust proof before the salt starts, next summer i will be noticing a lot more than three rust spots....
this is going to be close, hopefully they call me soon so the rep. can look at it, and the repairs be done, so i have enough time to rust proof before the salt....
