What's up guys. This is my fifth VW and I have been a Mk2 guy for the last couple of years now and decided it was time to get into something newer. Picked up this '06 GLI yesterday and the few miles I have driven it so far have been awesome. It's fully loaded with literally every factory option imaginable. Coilovers, H&R spacers, badge less grille, and a Votex front lip are the only mods. Otherwise the car is completely stock.

Going from an '85 GTI that was daily driven to this has been quite the change, but I'm excited to see where this goes.

Here are a couple pics

I'll keep everyone updated as changes to the car are made.

Sweet car, looks great! :beer::beer:

How many miles, and owners?

When I bought my '06 GLI, I always wanted the Reflex Silver color myself. But the only one I could find in my price range at the time was Platinum Gray, which has grown on me over the years.

Thanks man. 170k and it runs like new. I'm the 3rd owner. The first one didn't have the car for very long at all and the one before me did all of the maintenance on it regularly and has a stack of receipts totally around 5k over the past couple of years. Drives very well. And yeah my first car was a Reflex Silver Mk4 GTI. A lot of people don't like silver, but I have always been a fan.

That's awesome, these 2.0T FSI engines will run forever if taken care with proper and regular maintenance. I'm the same way as your last owner, bought mine off a 1 year business lease and have had it serviced religiously ever since. Not too many issues with mine, it's been pretty reliable.

So what are your plans? Any more mods in the works? Right now I'm in the process of interior upgrades, suspension refresh, and new catback exhaust.

Since it's already on coilovers I will just be lowering them all the way in the future, but after driving my static mk2 everyday I kind of want to keep the height where it is on the GLI for now. It rides very nicely and I don't want to ruin that yet haha. Down the road I am thinking about a Nardi woodgrain wheel, heavyweight knob from BFI, Forge DV, and 3" straight pipe from the turbo back. As for wheels I haven't looked too deeply into what route I want to take as I am still figuring out what specs I want to end up with as far as fitment goes. But I am big on Rotiform, and I love OZ Futuras as well. Possibly a set of 22 spoke Benz wheels if someone wanted to trade the stock Detroits :beer:

Those upgrades sound sweet. Yeah, I think how it sits now looks great, and I completely understand about not wanting to go much lower and screw up the handling. I'm not a stancer myself, to each his own on that not hating, but I think screwing up the suspension/handling for the sake of how something looks is a pretty silly notion. I'd much rather have a little wheel gap and be able to take hard turns and pot holes with ease and no rubbing, than sweating bottoming out and scraping my subframe. :laugh:

Btw, I would keep the Detroits for winter setup, and I think they look pretty cool as far as stock wheels go. They're definitely very Euro and VW.

Yeah haha I'm going to lower it all the way soon enough just want to enjoy the ride for now since it's only been a week. Also want a Euro headlight switch and led tails at some point. And yeah the stock wheels are cool but I've always been a big fan of Benz wheels.

Dialed in the rear camber the other day. -4.2 degrees fits the 9.5's a lot better than the -2ish it was at before.

Picked up this cool Blue Ridge Parkway sticker while the wife and I were in the mountains two weeks ago. Killer driving roads.

Trying to get the Votex front lip resprayed at some point and color match the skirts and rear valence and swap the amber markers out for color matched ones. Not a whole lot going on with the car right now. Subtle OEM euro bits are in its future, but nothing crazy.
