Ok so I just recently received my GTI back from the collision shop as I fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed. Wasn't too bad, could have been worse, was about $6k in damage. The car drives great however they had it for a month and I was expecting it to be perfect however there are some issues, first one I noticed is the headlights. I have the lighting package, the headlights still self adjust when I turn on the car however the right headlight now sits a little higher than the left. 2nd windshield wipers. I cracked my windshield in the accident and they replaced it. When my automatic wipers came on earlier I heard a loud tapping noise, the left wiper is making contact with the car now so that's annoying, and 3rd i noticed that creaky suspension noise that seems to be coming from the rear that people have posted about before going over speed bumps etc. they replaced the two front struts but I never noticed that noise before, my question is, I have to take to dealer for 30k service so since everything is under warranty should I try and have them fix these issues? Since I know the know best or should I take it back to the shop. I'm worried about this because hey had my car FOREVER and obviously if these issues came about I don't want them to not fix it again? Thanks for reading

I also forgot to add my alignment is off. I messed it up pretty bad in the crash, u put a whole net set of tires on and they didn't full alignment and while its way better than it was after the crash, it's still not completely straight like it was before. The wheel has to be turned to the left a little for it to be straight

$6k in work and they didn't do a full alignment? WTF?

I'd probably notify them straight away for the record. If you went through your insurance company I would let them know you're not happy with the repairs and that you are worried there might be safety issues with the alignment and steering . You're paying to have it like new.

Yeah the work is all lifetime warranty, the shop foreman said if I'm not 100% just give him a call I just don't want them to have my car for a long ass time again. That's what I said about the front strut, they only wanted to replace one because only one was damaged but I said it's a safety concern and they replaced the other front strut too. I'm going to give them a call today

I would call your insurance and go through them. If the shop is a preferred shop, the insurance company will light a fire under them.

If it does not get fixed correctly the insurance company is ultimately responsible in the above situation.

You can probably take it to the dealer and explain the situation to them. While these issues are obviously not warranty due to the collision they may be able to charge the body shop for the repairs and perform them at the dealer.

I would give the creaky suspension a little time to break in. Mine creaked like a pirate ship when it was brand new. Now it's pretty damn quiet. As for the other problems, those are definitely things you need to bring to the body shop's attention.

Call the insurance and complain. If you went thru a recommended shop any work is covered till you sell the car. Tell the insurance that the shop didn't do the job they were supposed to do, and they should take care of it for you.

My car is a year old and has 30k miles you don't think it would be broken in by now?

Anything repaired or replaced from your accident is not a VW warranty issue. You need to talk with your repair shop on repair warranty issues. You also might have issues that weren't discovered during the initial assessment.

Sorry to hear of your accident and hope the falling asleep issue was just a fluke otherwise get some sleep or help (no offense intended). As far as the car it sounds like the wiper just needs to be re-indexed on the drive spindle. The car should track straight and not creak. I would take it back and ask for the alignment print out showing the correct spec along with the current settings as adjusted or verified by the shop. The trouble with the lifetime guarantee is that's how long you will need to get it right. They will try to wear you down with sub standard work. Don't settle but don't lose any sleep over it, really. I had $10k worth of collision work on my 337. I had hoped after a month it would have been perfect, but it was a complete mess. Took it back and lost it for another week, but still not right. So when I picked it up the second time I took it immediately to an independent car dealer and traded for a beautiful low mile still under warranty A3 Q 3.2 and never looked back. Good luck.

Sorry, I thought the implication from the first post was that some of the suspension components were replaced during the repair. Since it wouldn't be unreasonable to think you'd be driving over a curb after falling asleep at the wheel etc.
