As said most manufacturers are making products in China these days, that being said, I have gotten a fake product through Amazon in the past, I believe it was an Amazon seller, not directly through Amazon. It should be pretty obvious looking at the sensor itself if it's a fake, I'd say you're fine, was it an Amazon seller or right from Amazon?
They were from Amazon Warehouse, which as I understand is items returned that were purchased from Amazon in the first place. These items are often sold discounted because they are open box, though not necessarily used (both the sensors I got appear new, they were not installed as the anti-seize on them is still applied normally and not smeared all over the threads and they show no dirt or wear on them)

i had this issue, i bought a canada goose down coat then had to return it, i got the identical coat as a replacement (got it before i mailed the original back) while they looked very similar, there were some significant changes such as grommet holes, pull cords, the labels and tags...

it took a while but after emailing customer service the pictures of both coats they confirmed that they did a slight refresh to the design of the jacket.

I bought a $1000 KKK turbocharger, guess what, it was made in China. Their production moved from Germany to Hungary to China. Price is the same.
Same with SKF and NTN bearings and many other products, you can get US or China made from the same supplier and same pn.
They have quality control but I still dont trust them. The $1000 turbo started to burn oil after 2 years.

I would suppose two big factors would be: how new the production line/factory is (are the machines, and employees, known to churn out good product), and does the company actually care about quality?

Yes, lots of complete crap is "made in China."
But so are, for example, a lot of Apple products. People, including myself, might pick on Apple for different things, but, they know how to build an items with great fit and finish that feels solid.

I think it's a lot less to do with where it's made and a lot more to do with how it's designed.

Just bought some Bosch brake pads and rotors off of Amazon. Made in China as well. It was the nicest packaged brake pad and rotor set I'd ever come across. A bit excessive frankly, but surprisingly good. The quality of the products were good too. Fit perfectly and works very well.

If you've never been to China and seen some factories there, there are varying degrees, like everywhere else. There are those that would be the cream of the crop for any country, as well as the garage turned into an injection molding and sheet metal stamping "factory." So there's all types there. Same with the raw materials used.
