Thanks, but the OP was doing lines, fittings, and resistor kits and I wanted to be lazy and not have to chase all the parts down
If you want to change the PCV lines, you can order the 034 kit. They're a little bit specific to the engine, so pay attention to that. I have one on my track car. Cleaner setup and the hoses will last longer than most off-the-shelf hosing when it comes to dealing with oil.

Do you have a boost gauge or have you compared the requested vs actual boost values in VAG-COM? You may not be making any boost.

I recently did the narrowband to wideband conversion on my A4 and in the process I messed up my ECU connectors (basically just didn't push all of the wires in all the way and lost the plastic clip that holds them in place for you) and was experiencing a similar issue. I would accelerate and even if I got high up in the revs it would barely make any power, which I saw with my boost gauge since I never made any boost.

Now, I saw some codes, mostly to do with the throttle position sensor being faulty. Your sensor may be borked but not yet throwing a code (maybe?), so I would suggest checking the sensor values in VAG-COM. I don't remember the block number off the top of my head, but I think it was two up from the block used for doing the throttle body alignment. You can't miss it, it shows you the values recorded by both throttle position sensors (at least it did for the A4). Anywho, find that block and see if your values are normal.

Do you have any codes of any kind? A CEL? Any strange noises? It could be a MASSIVE boost leak.

Don't think a slipping clutch would throw a code.

Has the clutch ever been changed? If not I would think this would be the issue.

Get it up to highway speeds then downshift into passing gear, if your revs shoot up it's a worn clutch.

If not then your car isn't making power which could be numerous things.

Check your vacuum hoses; I had a vacuum leak once at the fuel pressure regulator which puts you in limp mode.
I don't have VAG-COM and it is over $249 for basic kit or the connector (can't recall).
A friend said it could be the timing belt, knock sensor (there is a loud knocking sound), ignition timing, etc...
It used to throw: P0171, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0304, due to this, so I fixed it by installing this today.
I drove the car around to clear the CEL, which it did, but now I get P0304(I have two brand new sets of coils and plugs that I put in today and none fixed the missfire), no CEL and acceleration still not fixed.
Clutch+timing belt(and its relatives) never been changed and I know it is time to do it which will put a giant whole in my pocket :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Hey guys, just wondering what the opinions are around here on PCV parts. I was looking at a kit like this http://www.urotuning.com/Breather-Hose-Kit-Mk4-1-8T-Reinforced-Silicone-p/uro_mk4-breather.htm but found a great deal on brand new OE stuff, I would probably save like 50 bucks with OE, but if the Urotuning kit is worth it ill swing for it. While the car is in my possession I don't plan on putting down more than like 250-275hp so what do I do? The car is chipped ATM. Want to order my stuff tonight so quick opinions are really appreciated!

      • Install 034 Motorsports Silicone Breather Hose Kit

-So I started the install of the kit Saturday Morning and I ran into some troubles.
Apparently, VW changed up a few things throughout the run of AWP 1.8T's and as a result there are a couple variations of the Breather Hose Kits. I followed the descriptions listed on Urotuning's website (http://www.urotuning.com/Breather-Hose-Kit-Mk4-1-8T-Reinforced-Silicone-p/034_mk4-breather.htm) regarding late style vs. early style. My car has the two ports coming off my valve cover; first the main breather hose and second the small vacuum port. Based on that and the year ranges listed on the website I determined that I needed the Late Style kit.

-Here is how the kit came.

-Here is the kit compared to the stock breather hoses. Take note that the kit eliminates the auxiliary check valve and breather hose portion that goes up to the small vacuum port on the valve cover and that is why that portion of the kit is missing the "Y" section and associated hoses. After seeing the kit side by side with the stock setup I understand why. This auxiliary system is redundant and really seems to just provide extra opportunities for leaks. That being said if I notice any issue with this delete I will just order a 100% new OEM auxiliary system and integrate it with the silicone PCV kit.

-Upon trying to perform the install I noticed that the S-hose provided in the kit (Late Style) looks very different than the stock S-hose that was in my car. (Obviously ignoring the auxiliary check valve and breather hose that the kit eliminates)

-Using the info on Urotuning's website, it seems as as if the stock S-hose on my car closely resembles the S-hose that is for the Early Style kit.

-Anyways I sent an email to Urotuning that Saturday morning regarding this issue with a few pictures to help them understand. At 9:30 Monday morning I talked to one of them on the phone and they are sending me the Early Style S-hose with a return label for me to send them back the Late-Style hose in the kit.

Essentially we are switching out these two parts.

I'm quite impressed with their customer service so far. If this exchange goes smoothly I will make it a point to order other maintenance items from Urotuning in the future. I firmly believe in doing business with companies that take care of their customers.

-Since I already had everything apart I moved onto the rest of the installation. Here is the only pic I snapped so far of the lower hose installed.

-I didn't want to put the old ripped hoses back in and button everything up only to take it all back apart in a couple days so right now I'm currently bumming a ride from my fiance or riding my commuter bike to work (only 10 miles) while I wait for the part to come. PEDAL POWER!!!!

You might be ok with that but then again i believe that that line is there for a good reason...

      You could...

      1) (cheapest) replace that hose with an AutoZone vacuum hose and that will work just fine or

      2) (best) get the silicone hoses kit and never look back, lets start with the year of your car.

      anyways up to you

**for the SAI check the plastic hoses, sometimes they pop out or crack. make sure they are seated properly.

Hello all, FNG here, be gentle.

I have never owned a VW, and I'm completely ignorant in that respect. I am mechanically inclined, and have a lot of mechanical experience under my belt, just no Volkswagens. Yesterday, on a whim, I went out and purchased a 2005 GTI. I was looking for a second car that gets better gas mileage than my 2013 Ford FX4 (5.0 Coyote), which I'm keeping for snow days and Mastercraft pulling. I shopped and shopped for a "gas getter", but happily ended up with this. It was the newest car with the lowest miles (102000) that was within my self-imposed budget...also, it moves faster than a scalded cat that's high on meth. The previous owner has done some things and added some bits.

I'm hoping some of you can help me identify what has been done here. I didn’t have a chance to talk with the previous owner much due to circumstances beyond my control. Here is what I think I know…
Obviously aftermarket intercooler, “cold air” intake of some sort, some new boost plumbing, some manner of aftermarket engine management (Revo I think, there were decals on the car), VR6 clutch, aftermarket blow off, modified oil pan (I think…it leaks), adjustable coil overs/springs…and maybe more. I know that the following pictures aren’t going to provide enough information, but I want to get some insight on to what might have been done.

      Engine…

      Intercooler....

      Oil Pan...

      OIl Leaks....

      Downpipe...

It sits a bit too low for my taste…luckily they are adjustable…

My engine light is on, and no, I haven’t yet pulled codes. Had the car for less than 12 hours. I’m sure it’s due to the aftermarket performance stuff, as the car is certainly NOT in limp (5psi) mode. I just want to know where to start and how to identify what’s been done. For instance, if it been chipped or piggybacked (not sure if that is the term nowadays) how can I tell? Is the Revo electronic system identifiable, or was it just uploaded and removed? And what is up with the oil pan? It was suggested to me that it’s an aftermarket add on to prevent scraping since the car was riding really low?

I don’t want to remove the performance parts if they are properly done, problem is, I don’t know enough about MK4 tuning to tell if that is the case.

      Where do I start?

Thanks in advance for any and all help. Just point me in the right direction. If you need a pic, I'll get it. If you need a number, I'll find it.
I see some urotuning goodies!

So far all i see is that the previous owner only did the upper y hose. I would recommend changing the rest of it out. Look under the intake manifold and see if the rest of the pcv system is in tacked. We can sell you just the s hose, pcv, and the lower breather hose.
      http://www.urotuning.com/Breather-Hose-Kit-Mk4-1-8T-Reinforced-Silicone-p/034_mk4-breather.htm

Neuspeed intake looks a bit rough. I would clean it and put a very light coat of oil on it.

Forge inlet pipe is a nice upgrade the previous owner left you. Forge splitter( i recommend capping it off to make it a dv again)

The coilovers that you have look like the raceland ultimos.

Awesome, so nice to have vendors chime in on the forum. You just earned another sale once I get things sorted out.

I'll dig into the top end once I finish getting the suspension, brakes, and oil leak sorted out!

      Thank you sir.
