Hey guys I'm picking up a 01 Jetta GLX, which has 29,200 miles on it. I was wondering when I do get the car ( dealership) what you recommend changing. Such as oil, coolant or etc...? Let assume the last person didn't change a jack thing on the car? If I do make these changes what do you recommend me using? Any special kind of oil or etc, sorry I am a newbie with it comes to my Jetta. Any help is appreciated. Thanks again

You don't have to change coolant.

Your next Scheduled Maintenance is at 30000 miles
Items to be Serviced:
Engine Oil - change
Engine Filter - change
Windshield Washer Fluid - check level
Automatic Shift Lock-check operation
Brake System - check damage/leaks, pad thickness, fluid level
Wheels - rotate from front to rear
Air Bag System - check function/damage
Battery - check electrolyte level

This is a good source for maintenance schedules. I use Mobil 1 5w40 in my VR6. Any oil that meets the requirements specified in the owners manual will be fine.

The car SHOULD be in good shape with all fluids. But look at the dipstick. You can tell if the oil is new. If brown/black get an oil change. Cheap.
As mentioned get an owners manual and maintenance book and follow it.
