'01 or '02....would you....?

Right now I can get a great deal on an '01 GTI GLX....about 18,500 brand new. I could also get a brand new '02 1.8T for about 20,500. Things to consider...I am not interested in tuning or moding and I will not be able to afford the 24V or DE in May due to a new mortage payment. I know they are two different choices....VR6 vs 1.8T (let's not start another one of those debates). What might you choose? Any opinions welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For the 6hp difference I would go with the VR6.
But do you want / need the longer B2B warranty?
I'd go for the GLX because it's cheaper and has some nice goodies in it
Plus it won't have the crappy new double din head unit.

Not sure about this but as far as I know most companies only give you a discount on the first 2 airbags. Any additional ones arent helpful. I'd do the GLX if you're not going to mod the car. Although it's a VR6 and get less mpg, sounds like you'd be saving 2 grand but gaining a smoother ride overall.
