Ok, I've had my '03 Jetta GLS 1.8T for about 6 months now and the seats are still just as uncomfortable as they were day one.

I have the leather package and I was hoping that they would soften up or break-in a bit by now. I like the car but the seats are so dam uncomfortable that I almost hate driving it. I'm getting to the point where I might actually shell out the cash to replace the front seats!
Does anyone else have this problem? Another thing that drives me crazy is that the bottom seat cushion is only about 12 inches deep. I'm only 5'6" and the seat still ends about half-way down my thigh.
Maybe I'm just spoiled b/c I have been driving A4s and BMW 3s for the last couple of years and my other car is a TT, but I still don't believe that the seats should be this bad.

I agree... I also thought they would get more comfy as they broke in. I don't seem to be as unhappy as you are though but they sure could use some improvement in the soft dept.
I DO wish they were "longer" though and the side bolsters are too small too.
Feel lucky.. I'm 6'2"

I feel your pain. I have the same problem. It just isn't the same after getting out of the M3 and into the Jetta. I am 6'0 and the damn seats are at my inner thigh... I have been driving my car for about 14k now and still no different

Odd.
I absolutely despise soft leather seats, that's why I when I sat in these leather seats I was like "ooohhhh" cause they're nice and "hard".
I have a 2000.
Sorry to inform you, it aint lookin' like your seats are going to break in anytime soon.

Curses!!! Foiled again! If I don't end up selling this car in the near future, I'm most likely going to replace the front seats (and keep the stock ones so that I can put them back in when I do sell)
I'm praying that the recaro after-market seats aren't too expensive

Re: 03 Jetta Leather Seats not breaking in... (TurboJetta18T)

mine started to break in after about 10-15k miles so that i wouldn't be sliding around. i also use the zymol leather conditioner on them and that helps a lot. i also hated them when i first bought the car but now that they are broke in they are just fine though i sure wish i could get the gli seats instead as i like the side bolsters in them.

Well you answered your own question. I drive Porsche's all day. So when the end of the day comes I get in my car and sigh......

My wife's 2000 Jetta GLX has very comfortable seats, very comfortable. My GTI 2003 seats aren't that comfortable but they are different all togehter. Different style and they are thin, more like racing seats. Put some Vinylex NEATSFOOT on your seats, they make them smell like new leather again and really soften them up. But the padding is going to stay the same so I don't know if these will help or not. I think recaor seats are big bucks and they dont look comfortable, more like racing seats to keep you in

My seats are plenty comfy and I'm 6'3". That being said, I would probably trade them for the OEM Recaro sport seats if the opportunity arose.
However, I think the larger issue here is WHY would you drive a Jetta if you have a 225 HP TT in the garage?

I am back in school (taking classes in the evening) and I didn't want to park a nice car on campus SO... My wife drives the TT durring the day and I get visitation rights on evenings and weekends
...it's better than driving a Jetta ALL the time.
oh yah, that and the fact that I crashed my brand new 2002 BMW 330Ci twice in the first 6 months and had to sell it

O'well, such is life. I will most likely sell the Jetta when I graduate and buy another bimmer (used this time... less expensive, and heartbreaking when you crash it
)
Don't get me wrong... I like the Jetta, the only two complaints I have are the seats and the overly-soft suspention that comes with the sports pack. (the latter far easier to remedy than the former.
