Yes on most counts. You can use your existing head, fuel system and tranny. You have to get a block off plate for the crankcase breather system that comes on an ABA (if that's what you are thinking of using), and an adapter for your 1.8 distributor (distributor hole in the ABA block is bigger). You'll also need a donor A3 distributor - you'll need the gear from it (it is also bigger). You use an A3 timing belt, instead of the one you use now. You have to use your clutch setup. The cool thing about that swap is that only the trained eye will notice the difference between it and your old 1.8. Rice owners certainly won't notice. Then, you can stomp their guts out with your "stocker" 86 Jetta http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
