I have a 1.8 8V from an 84 Scirocco in my cabby. At about 3200 it has NO power. This started happening all of the sudden. The engine is stock and runs well at idle and up to about 3200. I've changed the fuel filter. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: 1.8L 8V has no power above 3200 rpm...Help! (vwrabbit)

Any idea how I could test this? I think I have an extra, but it only has one vacuum connection. What's the difference?

Could be a clogged cat as well, but I'd check the distributor first.

Might be fuel pump too. This happened to a friend of mine's Mustang. Had no power over 4000 rpm. Turned out to be a tampon, that's right a tampon, had been put in his tank and was clogging his fuel pump and the lines. Just something to think about. HTH.
