The search is down, so I'll just post my question...
How feasible is a 1.8t swap into a G60? Will the trans bolt right up, or would I need the 1.8t transaxle too? I Imagine this has been done before? I was thinking of having a 1.8t in reserve if/when the G60 ever bites it.
Any resources for a 1.8t motor? Cost range?
I'm new to the VW arena and trying to learn the details of Corrado ownership. Sorry if this has been covered before...

I'll try to find out more info for you, a local tuner has done one.
I think you need a custom rear engine mount for starters...

not too bad--- trans bolts right up, lots of people have done it before in every vw. wiring is tuff and "having a 1.8t in reserve" is a tall order considering the work involved-- suffice it to say it aint easy--- we are in the midst of one now--- but if you want to tackle it--good luck it will be quick

I have done a lot of research on this and was speaking with someone who is currently doing it.
Fitting the motor in is not a problem. It bolts right in, you don't need a new transmission the 02A is sufficient enough to handle the power. The problem comes in all the custom fabrication involved in setting the car up. Apparently all the tubing is a huge bitch. As is finding a place for the intercooler is even tougher. Everything to get air and fluid to engine requires fabrication and then finding a clean way to actually fit it in the car. Afterwards you have 3 weeks worth of wiring to complete. It can be done but the person I was speaking to about it said I would be better of buying a new GTi because as he claims "I weighed both of the cars, and they weigh almost the same, the Corrado weighs 50lbs less."
