With people like VWroom running in the 13's on AWD cars with minimal modifications on stock tires and some weight reduction it makes it seem very possible, even easy at times, for an AWW auto to break into the 13's.
I'm not discounting driver skill even in an automatic, but it would be relatively easy to learn the pattern to pull off good runs.
Comparing to VWroom's runs, theoretically a 2001 AWW automatic with a 1.1bar chip, TB exhaust, CAI, no spare or back seat, and some drag radials or good summer tires should be into the 13's easily

Timeslips have been posted and several other vortexer's were there to witness it.
I'm sure somebody else will jump in with the link to the other thread.
With the setup I mentioned, the AWW car would have better tires, 10-20 more hp, and maybe a little bit more weight. 13-second runs in the right conditions shouldn't be too difficult to come by.

My experience: Auto AWW, Neuspeed 1.1 (supposedly) chip, no spare, stock 17's, forge DV.
15.822 @ 86.44 best time out of 9 runs on two different occasions. If the TB exhaust, CAI, removal of backseat, and some good summer tires gets me into the 13's... That would be huge.
Like I have said before, I just can't believe it's so easy to get into 13's or for me, cut almost 2 seconds off my 1/4 mile!

Wow... have you got any dyno runs?
Turbocharged got an AWD golf 14.8 with 18's and a 1.0 bar chip & exhaust.
Checked for a boost leak? both the ET and the trap speed sound way off from what you should be getting.

Sorry, no dyno runs. I have taken it to the dealer to get it checked for leaks and got my 20K service in which they should have used their VAG tool, but they said I was fine... Who know's if I can trust the dealer?

Although I want to believe it I am also a skeptic of sorts...I have ran over 15 times and managed a best of [email protected] and I've tried every combo there is; powerbreaking, shifting the tree, 2nd-3rd, all D, everything. Others I have witnessed can barely break mid 15s in their autos with chips. Anyway, I still think that some get better engines than others...maybe it's california and it's tracks? oh well..ciao.

IIRC neuspeed's newest p-chip is only 1.0 bar... are you sure you have a 1.1?

I only have what they advertise, which was a 1.1 bar chip. So if it is only 1.0 bar or even less, I am not surprised.
I know chrisdo has most if not all of the mods you mentioned, but like he said, he only managed a 14.9

Another thing is the 4-speeds on an auto don't really promote great trap speeds...another thing that makes VrooMs run so skeptical. But again, his AWD might be a beast...some are simply faster than others. And, of course, ATCO has amzing traction, I hear

Vwroom's times are proven - he has witnesses and has posted his timeslip... I don't think that a good/bad motor would allow for 1 second time differences in the 1/4 mile. I think that with chip, exhaust, and auto most (average) motors will be running high 14's. A good motor will run mid 14's and a bad one will run low 15's. But same mods and same car but one motor being better than the other will not allow 1 second time differences - IMHO....

Re: 13sec automatic AWW 1.8T? (wolfsburg_de)

*sigh* i just drove 4 hours from my girlfriends school and what do i come home to, doubters, lol, s'all good, . Thanks again to the guys backing me up, Andy, Lou, Turbocharged, Nate, etc., the non-believers will never go away lol. For the doubters, it seems as if only you guys are the people with slow timeslips, im sorry, there is nothing i can tell you, it could be anything from weather conditions (2 of you are from Cali, hot weather) to ****ty track conditions. Like Anthony Dowd told me last night, there are only a few of us that race our cars on a reg basis on weekends on the vortex, so the experience and trial and error gets us our good times. As for chrisdo, i dont know what to tell you, what is your setup like? I mean i adjust tire psi, cool off the engine, do a burnout, powerbrake. Is your setup like mine...dp, intake, bov, exhaust, suspension? I'd like to help you guys out, but getting on my bad side by doubting me is not the right way. So enough with doubting and ask me for help instead of embarrassing yourselves. Next...back to the topic, i think 13s would be no problem with AWW motor auto. Just have the right setup and you're good to go...speaking of going...although i'd love to post, got some other business to take care off like getting my education lol, take it easy, and Happy Holidays

well its just the auto puts alott of power in that first gear and when i floor it with 17'' michelin pilots, the car wants to just give and spin, on stock tires, i get no traction, none at all, and to run a 13 would mean theres alott of power being put down into those stock tires, maybe you had gum all over them or something, i dont doubt the time, i just find it hard how you did it with stock tires , once again, i dont deny it, i just have to see it
