This is kind of a general, open ended question, but I just need pointed in the right direction...
I'm in the middle of a mild engine overhaul. My car just turned 150,000 miles on the original engine and supercharger. The engine actually ran pretty well before all of this, except with barely any boost and a lot of lifter noise and oil leaks in the head. That's being taken care of: The charger's on its way to KK as we speak, and the head is being rebuilt at a local machine shop. But I figured I might as well look inside the block while I'm this far.
I just pulled the oil pan off today. What/where should I be checking in the block that might be adversely affected by 150,000 miles of wear? Any parts I should replace - without pulling the block out of the car?

Re: 150k mile overhaul (cbgthor)

well, as I just found out with a block I bought....Cylinder wall to piston clearance is too much so I now need to buy new pistons and have the cylinders bored out. Check for that.

Re: 150k mile overhaul (cbgthor)

I have pull a few apart at over 130k and the main bearing where
in great shape the rod bearings need replaced . if the head is off
you might as well pull the pistons and check the cyl walls at least
new rings and a quick brush hone the cyl.walls then go threw the
seating procuders when it is running. up and down threw the rpms
under 5krpm for the first 500 miles. clean up any brittle or cracked
wires replace the thermastat black and blue temp sensors , clean the
ISV with carb cleaner. new 02 sensor new injector harness, new inj if
needed new injectors bosses cam seal valve cover gasket intake and
exhaust gaskets new radiator flanges if there arn't broke they so
will be, new lifters /cam, waterpump and oil pump. there is a new motor
