Re: 16v Exhaust Manifold Fit '84 GTi? (jstover)

The ports on the manifold are too large and are the wrong shape.(round vs oval). the mounting holes for the studs are far from close to matching the 8v head.
The A2 downpipe runs right into the A1 shift linkage. The A1 d/pipe goes around the linkage.

Find one off of a 16V Scirocco it should fit. I just did mine 2 weeks ago. It replaced my crappy 4-1 manifold. It wasn't a hard job just a bit time consuming since I had to have a straight pipe fabricated. You will need to fabricate a straight pipe w/ 2 flanges or purchase a flex pipe from TT tuning.

You have to be kidding me! That is what I have! I actually have the Scirocco manifold, downpipe and CAT. What exactly do I have to do? Is the downpipe I have usable?

I don't think you can.
I had a scirocco 16V downpipe next to a rabbit downpipe and the scirocco was much longer. Also, the scirocco one has a curve while the rabbit one was straight.
The exhaust manifold you might be able to use, but notice that ncvwnut said he had to have a staright pipe fabricated".
You should be better off trying to find the rabbit manifold and downpipe, they are always popping up in the classifieds.
HTH.
