I'm real rookie so I need your help. Just bought a wrecked 99 Beetle GLS 2.0l and I'm looking for some rims. Having this motor, performance is not my priority of course. I only want to improve the look of the car.
Would AEZ bimo 18x8.5 with 225/40ZR18 look good on it and most important are these too wide? I am not sure about the offset. Are they going to rub? For now I don't have the intention to lower the car but you never know what's in the future. Would that be a problem?
This NB is a second car and I have children so if it is going to feel as hard as a race car, I'll stick with the normal 16" or go in between with 17". What kind of confort can I expect from these? (I live in a region where road quality is far from being good). Thanks for your advices guys.

ok, those aez wont rub, and it will look good with 18's with 1.5 in drop. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
17in are good, the sport NB comes with 17" so i dont think the ride will be that bad at all. but 16" will be a little softer ride

wider doesn't mean better!

From experience and from engerniering experience wider doesn't mean better!
Cause there wider, you will have to fight it going down the road to keep it strait. You don't have the power to require the wider wheels either. It won't rack worth crap!
My opion, don't get wider unless you need it.
that was my two scene.

put 8.5's int eh back adn 7.5's in the front. the thinner the tires, the better gas millage u'l get, teh wider, i think it's more of jsut looks to a certain point... 205's r sufficien tires, prolly put 215's int he back, 205's int he front, get good gas millage....

Re: wider doesn't mean better! (fast mayte)

ahem. thinner doesn't equal better mileage. the thinner the tires, the small the overall wheel height is. therefore the wheel must go round more times to cover the same amout of distance as a larger tire, which means you'll have to run at higher rpm's to reach the same speeds, which means more fuel consumption. just my two cents.

Put 225-45-17 on alloy wheels this summer. The wheels and tires feel great on this car and are hard to break loose unless you're given it hell and I still get 42-50 MPG
Oh BTW the beat the hell out of the stock Michelins in all respects. Haven't met an exit ramp yet that couldn't be taken at 75
