It's been done.
I have a German VW mag with one in it.
Lots of fitment issues though. For example they had to swap the power steering to manual because there was not enough room.

http://www.bb-automobiltechnik.de/ can probably help you. They've put a 2.8 VR6 BiTurbo in a Polo and 1.8T and VR6 into a Lupo so they know what fits and whats not.
