My Dad bought a '79 one, in bright yellow. It was actually a very good car and quicker than the Rabbits of the day. It became my first car when I turned 16 in '86. I abused that poor thing but it took me and many friends where ever we wanted to go. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I used to have a '79 M-B 300SD. I still miss it. Acceleration was "please take a number" pace, but once up to speed it was a wonderful long-distance cruiser.

Fiesta, Rabbit, Civic, RX-7, 200SX, Cressida, that's about the only cars from that year I'd even consider.
I'd actually really like to find a ~1979 Cressida - they've become rare as hen's teeth by attrition and they're funky pieces of Japanese car history. The MX41 Cressida was an attractive car... dropped on watanabes or some other retro Japanese wheel with fender-mounted mirrors, it would be divine.

I was also born in 1979, and drove a '79 RX-7 for a few years. GREAT car. Loved driving it...it was a noisy, smelly, stiff and uncomfortable beast. But it was an absolute blast to drive.
