[VW-BMW]

Hey guys,
It seems that some 1990 cars need the whole strut assembly, and some only need the shock insert. How can I tell what I need?

If your strut looks like this:

with the two bolt holes on the side there, you replace the strut assy, seperate from the hub assembly. Otherwise, you replace the insert.

On this, the strut assembly and the hub where the brakes hook on are all one piece, and you have to put the above insert into the old strut assembly.

On the bright side, it must be easier to replace, inserts are a pain. You have to pull everything off with inserts, and I can't see how the assemblies could be any easier.
