so i took my 1999 a6 to the ac shop because it was blowing cold then abrubtly stopped. The ac shop said the freon was full and i most likley needed a compressor. why do they always go right to the compressor. i do need to install my new raidator and alternator but dont want to take off the front end and need to again for my ac. I also dont want to spend 400 bucks on a ac system i dont need. i had a code on vcds for flap malfuncion. i cleared it and didnt save it because im not smart enough to. the code hasnt came back and i am not sure what flap it was (if i would have saved the code i could have tested that one and not every one) tomorrow i will check if the compressor is actcualy spinning not just on the barring. but vcds shows the compressor when i turn it off and on. it also dosent throw a code i think it was 3 if its bad or somethig (i cant recall the exact prosses but i was reading the information wile i tested.

Edit/update I checked the flaps with ac on watched all the arms move and went on to the compressor. Ac on high the compressor wont engage it's just free spinning on the barring. Do I have a sensor or switch that I can force the compressor to engage so I know it's a switch/sensor or the compressor itself. My issue is I dont want to change the compressor and still have a ac issue

Tomorrow I'm going to jump the low pressure switch and probably find out the compressor is done. I didn't want to but I'll be happy to finally have an answer to why it's not working

I ran power to the 2 grounds on the low pressure switch and didnt get the compressor to engage. Now I used a power probe and only gave 12v to one ground at a time. Should I connect both to 12v or will one individually give power to the compressor clutch? I'm also going to run 12v to the compressor itself and see if my previous test were inconclusive
