OK,
I have done searches here and on clubb5 and am definitely interested in beefing up my suspension. After carefully considering all the options out there the 1BE seems like the one for me, with the right combination of improved handling, ride comfort and just the right amount of drop. For me, I will go with springs, shocks and bump stops and see how it handles. I can always go for the sway bar later if I am still not happy.
After going through the postings one thing isn't all that clear and that is if the parts for a B5 will fit a B5.5 (2001 and newer), which is what I have. I have seen people post saying that the suspension has changed but I have also seen a couple of posts of people from the recent group buy that drive B5.5s that have installed 1BE. Are there specific 1BE components for B5.5s? Can someone please clarify this?

Re: 1BE suspension on B5.5 and newer? (Bazel)

Go to http://www.eibach.com and check out the 'Application Guide'. You can specify your year, make, model and it will tell you what you need. You can get the pro-kit (springs and dampers) for your B5.5 (2001.5 or 2002) sedan or variant, fwd or 4mo.

I just noticed you want the 1BE, not the eibach pro-kit... who makes the 1BE setup?

To quote from a response to my same question over at Clubb5.....
Passat OEM Suspension packages:
1BA (what we have here)
1BB (rough terrain package, raises the vehicle slightly)
1BE (optional sports springs/shocks/swaybar available in europe as an option)
