Hey guys,...my engine builder needs the following specs,....does anybody have them handy?
Engine is a stock 2.0 bottom, and Kent 258 cams. I cant find any info at all for the cams online, does anybody have the test article from the magazine? Maybe its in there? Thanks....

rods are 144mm, comp is advertised at 10.8 but measures ~10.4:1, exhaust stems are 7mm also, inlet lift is .350", exhaust is .410" IIRC but if you are changing cams it does not matter.

Ok guys....thanks for the help,..so far so good...
How about specs for the stock cams
then euro intake cam?
I'll keep digging for the Kent specs...
I know the stock cams list max HP at 5800rpms...

Now, I know the stock cams were listed at 5800 for max HP
What is the official rpm for max power on the euro intake...
Also, does anybody have the mag test of the Kent 258s and know what the RPM for max HP is on them?
Hopefully I can post good info off of these numbers... I am still working on my custom intake manifold, as the 50mm is far from ideal for top end perfomance...the plenum is too small and the runners are too long...

You'll get a few arguments there. Unless top end is 9000 rpm...[HR][/HR]​

Actually, no arguement is possible....the plenum on the 50mm was designed for a 1.8L engine...it is smaller than the plenum on the 42mm which was designed for a 2L engine. Luckily I have both, and a excellent welding shop to switch my 42mm plenum onto my 50mm runners....
I am not saying to raise the powerband much, if at all.....but this WILL make the power stronger at its peak, even if the peak remains close to, or at where it is... I've been doing some research and talking to some people for about 6 months on this,...and I am almost ready to do it....

Yea....I'll admit watching my friends run like 12.1 is fun....but somebodys got to be different!
Im sick of hearing blow-off valves!!

Ok.....here is part of the info he has given to me so far.......I think alot of the numbers in the beginning are specs for a custom header designed for the engine. I gave him the engine specs for a stock 2.0 engine with a euro cam ( what I have now) plus I gave him the specs for the Kent 258's. Of course, being that this guy is a hardcore V8 engine builder,...he told me to get bigger cams!! Maybe eventually....I have other things I need to pay for first...
The important stuff (to me anyway) is the fact that he was able to give me numbers for intake length, since I will be able to adjust that when I swap the plenums anyway. I am pretty excited about this idea.

all the way to 7000 RPMs with right camshaft specs

5800 RPM needs 230 duration @ .050"
7000 RPm mneeds 252 duration @ .050"
the larger plenum helps reduce reversion spikes , and also helps feed engine
at high RPMs "~~~~~
(I take it to mean this could help the idle problems with bigger cams by lessening the plate-pulse movement. Plus, he has agreed with me that while the 50mm runner themselves are a good upgrade, they are mismatched with the smaller plenum designed for the 1.8l engine which is causing a bottleneck. I find it amazing that in all the years of 16v tuning, I am the first to notice this, or at least realize it and do something about it.)

All that math mumbo-jumbo above came from an engine builder guy I know,....the idea to put the 42mm plenum onto the 50mm runners is all mine,...I thought about it last Dec when I was looking at a spare manifold I have. The engine builder guy just happens to agree with me about it. If you know anyone else who has actually done this already, what is his/her name, I would like to see what the results were.

I am not sure, as I havent taken any actual numbers...but it is very noticable by eye. I guess I could fill them both with liquid and measure once I cut them off...
I wasnt able to find any equations online either, except for a small blurb that mentioned that a plenum volume should be at least 80%? of a engines displacement.....or something like that...
Basically, it all boils down that the bigger engine will work better up high with a bigger plenum. Shouldnt cost TOO much to have done either... and I will measure intake tract length and adjust while I am at it also...
