what I want to know is how would a 2.0 ABA short block bolt into a G60 engine bay, I know the G60 head will bolt up to the 2.0 block now as far as retrofitting the G-ladder up to it is the big thing i want to know
plus can someone refresh my memory.....does the G60 tranny bolt up to the ABA block???
thanks in advance

Re: 2.0 G60?????? (VWturbo2Ltr)

that is kinda like the setup I'm going for right now. The ABA block will bolt up to the tranny... problems (other that the usual ones associated with ABA swaps) come from the alternator. The way it is setup on the G60, the alternator bracket bolts on the G-Lader bracket and bolts up tu the head. Now because your head sits 16mm higher, the holes won't match up anymore. I'm looking into welding up some more material on the factory alternator bracket mounting bosses, and relocating the holes 16mm higher.

I also have this setup in the works, fastbunny aka stephan is makeing a
step down plate that bolt to the head in the stock location, then add the
new hole and threads for the alternator bracket, also contact tech tonics
for the custome down pipe they make for this swap.
the belt tensioner cap you can get from BBM and your done.
i gonna punch mine to 83mm with the 95.6 stroke will be a monster 2.3l

Re: 2.0 G60?????? (URIN 2ND)

i have a couple of motors , i was going to do a 1.9l so i bought a g60 block rods and crank
head intake manifold, then i scored the 2.0l complete shortblock ready for assembly.
so i have desided to build the big one because there is NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT

Re: 2.0 G60?????? (REPOMAN)

You can't bore a 1.8L to a 2L. The cylander wall are not thick enogh. What people are calling a 1.9 isn't really a 1.9L. Stock displacement is 1781cc. Stock bore is 81mm. The biggest you can reliably bor a 1.8 (including the G60) is 82mm. The stock stroke is 86.4. Now when you do the math you end up with 1825cc, not exactly 1.9L is it.

Re: 2.0 G60?????? (Fast_bunny)

Unless, of course, you drop in a 92.8mm crank with the 81mm bore. That gets you up to 1912cc.... a true 1.9.
Also, I think that there are a *lot* of people sucessfully running 82.5 or 83mm pistons in a bored G60 block (hence the 2.0l conversion that people are doing with the PG block)....
Just my $0.005.......

Im running 82.5 pistons...i stayed away from the 83 becasue I have seen track applications gone bad from heat...but threre are lots of 83mm street cars running around without problems
