Exactly, and when you use "2.0" in the title it is kind of like putting up a big sign that says DON'T LOOK HERE, YOU MAY CONTRACT HERPES!
But seriously, chip, exhaust, high flow filter, maybe a cam is all you can really do without going turbo or superchager...
Check out the 2.0 forum.
im looking at the Neuspeend supercharger ... head work ... schrick cams and a cam gear. LSD , performance cluth and exhaust.... any one have opionions on this stuff or other stuff they would recommend ?
Is there any kind of conversions i can do ? use a different head with the 2.0 bottom ? im new at the VW scene .
Re: (Impulse333)

The guys in the 2.0 forum will have the answers to those questions, they talk mainly about performance upgrades, and not all the bling bling that goes on here, really check it out..
And yea you can do the conversion to a 16v head but it takes a lot of work from what I read over there. I think there are a few threads on the front page about head conversions.

Definitely check out the 2.0 forum. There's not too many of us "performance" 2.0 guys in the mk4 forum- we're a rare breed

To give you an honest overview, unless you are looking into a charger or turbo then you should save your $ on stuff like exhaust, intake, cam, chip- the difference they make in a NA 2.0 is negligeable. Some of them arent necessary even with major work.
Good luck on your car- help is def. available. This just may not be the best place to find it.

Re: (Arin)

The Neuspeed Charger is IMO....worth the $$$. Sure, there are other options out there in the aftermarket to squeze some more power out...but the NSpeed is a finely engineered unit for the 2.0.....I'd say one of the safest routes to take if you have any concerns about engine stress, etc...that's my .02. I could go on, but really.....

Re: (vwsteve)

if your going to go turbo or supercharger, you should of just got a 1.8t for the difference in price.
If you want a less expesive setup, go chip, intake, cam, and exhaust. That should be a nice setup. Check the 2.0 forum.
Re: (vwsteve)

vwsteve, I am with you
That is what I am going to get for my Jetta http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif People can talk crap about the NS S/C, but it has proven itself, besides I know a couple of people with the NS S/C and it does just fine...well worth the money
VF Engineering does make a great S/C as well, but I just trust NS....JMO

Re: (INSANE808JETTA)

I can tell you first hand. Do not invest in simple bolt-on parts (chip, exhaust, & cam) for your 2.0. It's not worth it. I'm running the GIAC chip, Maganflow cat-back & TT 256 cam on my 2.0 and regret spending the $$. Now as for your FI options, it just depends what you're expectations & bankroll are. The NS SC is a great set up. Simple installation and good increase in power (est. 134whp). On the other hand you got the turbo kits that can lay down 200whp, but obviously they cost a whole lot more. Do research adn make the right investment the 1st time.
Re: 2.0 mk4 jetta performance help! (Impulse333)

I regret to say there is no practical help. The most rational move is to donate it to a convent, take the tax deduction and apply to something that will out accelerate the Sloop John B.
Seriously, I know people who have invested far too much in 2.oh! mods and with disproportionate performance results. You also could lose what resale value there is...that is, folks who merely want a ride and would decline a modified car. Enjoy...somehow.

Yep. Yer better off buying a 1.8T from the start. After wasting thousands of dollars on a 2.slow, you are still slow.

Re: 2.0 mk4 jetta performance help! (dcomiskey)

my car off the lot was 16,500 after taxes and BS< spent 2 g's to make 166whp, and it keeps up PERECT with chipped, exhautsed and intake 1.8T's,
ill take a 2.0T anyday over the 1.8T , simply, most 1.8T's reach a ceililng with mods, to make reak power you need a t3t4 fo rit, end of story,
but warning, to make it as quick as i say, it aint gonna be a simple ride
funny how my 8 psi t3t4 keeps up PERFECT with 200whp 1.8T's overboositng those porr deperate souls they call ko3's pushing 16 psi LOL, i get half the boost, 35 whp less and hang up top,
, but liek i said, this project is for maybe 1 out of 30 people in thus forum if that, you gotta use your head, but dont be scared i recommend to turbo the 2.0

Re: 2.0 mk4 jetta performance help! (D Wiz)

here we go again with the should bought the 1.8T. Granted the 1.8T is a great motor but, maybe someone couldn't afford the 1.8T platform. Or maybe someone's wife talked them out of buying the sportier 1.8T because the GTI didn't have 4 doors. Whatever the reason a person has for buying a 2.0 is irrelevant. He/She has one... doesn't want to take a lost trading-in or selling the car...so would like to know what can be done to up the level of performance on the car he / she already has. So let's stick to the topic here and only give advice that pertains to the topic.
im lookin at sponsorship in the somewhat near future as for right now i jus want more power . im doin a 4 motion AWD conversion . twin turbo VR6 engine , 6spd , and race gear at the ass
