2.0.. what can I do for more horsepower

661 Views 10 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  flyjetta
I know there is the supercharger.. but that is what.. 145 at the wheels? 165 at the fly?
Are there any turbo kits available that wouldn't need tuning?
Is Z engineering coming out with a kit for the 2.0?
Thanks! And have one for the road!

yes I believe the neuspeed supercharger puts down about that much power

ATP is quite a popular one:

No. Although they did release a prototype model they decided not to produce it after neuspeed released their charger
Hope that helps...

That ATP kit, can you just bolt it on? Or does it require tuning?

While I've had a very pleasant, low-maintenance experience with mine (not ATP) you really shouldn't plan on using 'bolt-on' and 'turbo' in the same sentence

the neuspeed unit may not put down that much hp, much you've got to hand it to them for making a truely bolt on, reliable, and beautiful hp adder

Re: 2.0.. what can I do for more horsepower (flyjetta)

I used to own a 2.0L Mk3 and wondered the same thing... how do I get this thing to go faster? I investigated turbo and it is the best bang for the buck for 2.0L. (And yes will require tuning.)
Although, now I have a VR6 Mk4 and its pretty fast. But I wish I had a slower car with a lighter engine. I have taken on a new principle of I can get up to whatever speed I need to and can keep it there, what do I need a fast car for? Too bad my driving is not up to par with my new-found principle.
Just something to think about...

The way it seems, the supercharger is the way to go. There aren't many turbo tuning places around here I don't think. What kind of places do you go to?
What are the price comparisons?
A "bolt on" neuspeed Supercharger... 2600-2700?
Turbo? Cost of parts? Typical tuning?
Thanks for the help! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

A turbo is a great alternative. However don't fool yourself into thinking it's plug and play. It will take a while to have everything working properly (little bugs here and there). However, everything WILL work properly and will be reliable. HOWEVER, you will want MORE power so things will start to get unreliable again... !!!
..
Nyways, running 8-9 psi, stock compression, intercooled, you can have a RELIABLE turbo kit with very low maintenance.
I dynoed at 9 psi, 175 HP and 200 lbs torque at the wheels on 4th gear...

Did you do the tweaking yourself? Or did you have a mechanic do it? How much tweaking is a little tweaking??

y would u not tune the turbo setup? u can yield even more power with a few fuel and ignition tricks.
Re: 2.0.. what can I do for more horsepower (1BadAzzVR6)

the reason I wouldn't want to tune it is because I don't have any idea when it comes to turbos and how to tune them.. and I don't want to get raped in the garage by the mechanics!
