i know that with the 95.5 crank in a 2.0 block, the crank will push the pistons practically out of the block. i don't really want to have to spend $500 on the pistons that have the proper hole location so this doesn't happen. are there any shorter rods i can use to eliminate this?

In a word, No. It only pushes them up 1.35mm so you can: do nothing, shave the pistons ~1.35mm, use a thicker HG, or offset grind the rod bushings.

Re: 2.1L question... (GTIRACER2.0t)

is this an 8v or a 16v?

do you know this from personal experience?
mine has a 99mm crank and made 141hp at the wheels at 6.8k rpms and it wasn't even running right.

Re: 2.1L question... (VWzealot)

My motor is 84.5mm by 95.5mm and it would rev pretty good to 7200rpm. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Edit: early morning nonsense

Re: 2.1L question... (VWzealot)

mine's the ABA block...and it's an 8v. and i don't for a second believe that it wouldn't rev past 5k, or else i doubt there would be a company that sells a 99.5mm crank. and i've seen people on here who've had them.
