could have been a backfire. check your plugs/wires/coilpack. check your motor mounts and mounting bolts for them. I was getting a lot of engine movement noise too. I bought a turn2 mount for the upper rear engine to replace the factory, went to swap them and noticed that the bolt going down into the mount had broken off. Thus why my engine was moving so much. replaced the bolt, put the turn2 mount in, and smooth as ice now. if you have bad mounts, then yeah, it could possibly hit the underside of your hood. I'd look at it and make sure it's all good before doing any serious hard driving, unless you aren't worried about bangin the hood
