2001 Jetta Headlight Replacement

495 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  bergenvr6
Before I jump in and attempt to do this, I just want to make sure if the easiest way to replace the headlight in a '01 Jetta is to pull the battery to access the drivers side light. Passengers side should take me all of 2 minutes, I just am wondering if there is any trick to getting the drivers light in.... any help is appreciated. Thanks.

take the battery out...and it will be as easy as the passenger side!

um.. are you going for just the bulb? or the actual headlight itself.. if so you have take off the bumper.. otherwise.. it isnt too hard to get the bulbs in..

you don't really have to remove anything but the battery cover. it's a little tight, but if you're patient and careful it should take all of 10 minutes.

It did take me about the same time. The longest part was to make sure not to touch the bulb itself.
BTW, how do you change the fogs ? How do you take the baby blue cap off ?

Thanks for all of the info! I'll take care of it this weekend, weather permitting..
