!! 911 - 2002 GTI VR6 AIRBOX - 911 !!

OK, I went outside...mind it that it is about 15 degrees in my garage. Anyways. I am trying to remove the airbox on my 2002 GTI VR6. Well, I took the two screws out that actually hold the box down. I also took the two silver screws that hold the intake onto the airbox. I can't do anything until I take the other hose off that is underneath the intake hose. There is a smaller hose that I can't seem to figure out how to get it disconnected. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...SOMEONE HELP ME. I WANT TO GET THIS DONE ASAP. All I need to know if how to disconnect that smaller hose under the larger intake hose. THANKS VERY MUCH....

if it's the same as the 2k1 you just pinch the collar around and pull. it's kinda weird until you do it. there's two humps in the collar, just pinch and work it loose. i had to do this last night (no garage) in the semi dark and it took a minute to see how it was on, but eventually i got it.

Pinch it and pull off, there is also a hanger just below that supporting a vacume hose.

All right...I finally got the airbox and the snorkle off. Now, it is time for me to install the CAI pipe that I got from Home Depot. One problem..you know where the snorkle attatches to that "thing" in front of the driver side headlight housing? Well, how do I go about taking that off so I can fit the CAI pipe down to the front valance of the car? Anyone know? I was thinking just start YANKING ON IT

Sorry I have no pics...I am pretty sure that everyone knows what I am talking about. If anyone needs pics...I will go out there and take them.

Isn't there like one screw holding it in? try poking around there with a flashlight, it may help!

OK, before I go searching for the screw and before I just start using my Kung Fu...does anyone have one last thought on how to get it out??? ANYONE?

I may be confused . . . are you taking about the plastic tube-like piece which runs from the air box to the housing below the headlamp? If so, you simply pull it off - it shouldn’t be difficult.

Not the actual snorkle...but what the snorkle attaches to just infront of the drivers side headlight. It is some piece of plastic that seems to be attached to the car by plastic rivets of some sort. I don't how else to explain it. It goes the AIRBOX then the SNORKLE, then the SNORKLE attaches to some thing that is attached right in front of the drivers side headlight.

There are three rivets so I have read.............you are talking about the cold air intake housing behind the headlight right?

Yeah, the one right behind the drivers side headlight housing. So, it looks like I will have to pop those three plastic rivits out in order to take the whole plastic CAI housing off. GREAT....more work.
Re: !! 911 - 2002 GTI VR6 AIRBOX - 911 ! (user name unknown)

Well, last night I was outside in the garage until about 11:30. Doesn't look like those rivits are coming out any time soon. They are in there pretty darn good. I don't want to just start yanking because I started to yank a little bit, and noticed I was moving the whole headlight housing itself. I don't wanna mess that up. So, it looks like I am just going to cut my way through where I have to go. I don't know what to do anymore. This thing should be in already, but this piece of plastic is in my darn way.
