A lot of cars over the years have gotten "last year" restyling. Often it's to introduce styling cues that the replacement will have. Sometimes it's simply to change something that's been around a while. Hell, they used to restyle cars every year...
they are trying to make it uglier so no one will buy it and they will feel justified in axeing it.
btw I wasn't aware it was dying, are they replacing it? Is the cavalier going too?

I have heard rumours that the Cavalier will be replaced by the Astra. Word is that the Astra Turbo Coupe will become the Z24 http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

No, the Cavalier will not be replaced by the Astra. But the next Cavalier will be based on the next Astra.
Hmm, interesting Chrysler Crossfire front-end, Acura CL rear-end combo.
OK Pontiac, you've firmly established today that you can get rid of cladding, but that's not half the battle. How about some interesting designs to complement your new love of all things smooth?

Nope, that's changed now, too. The next Cavalier will now use a derivative of the next Grand Am platform, as Lutz deemed the Astra-based Cavalier too small. Only the forthcoming Saturn Ion will actually share the Astra platform.
Both I30 to I35 and Maxima got VQ35DE are usual Japanese "4 years major redesign, 2 years minor revision" tradition. That doesn't come as a surprise since Nissan has replaced all VQ30DE with VQ35DE all across the lines.
Its different, but, I'm interested. When I graduate high school (June 2003) my parents are buying me a new car. At first I wanted a New Grand Prix, but that is beyone our budget for me lol. So I said ok, a grand am gt is nice, affordable, and sweet lookin. i always said dad, just coz u bought allison (my sister) a sunfire, dont mean im gettin one, i have standards u kno.. but now that i see this, i kinda like it. .. anyone have info on engine/options.. ? thanks
Although it certainly doesn't look great, I think it looks much better, especially from the rear.
Those silly gigantic reverse fog lights are gone and the taillights are much simpler looking.

glad to see they kept the fake dual exaust...it nice when car come with the typical perfornace mods straight form the factory...It save the enthusiasts so much money...I also love the quad fog lights and the dual rear fog lights...over all a very nice car for the money, that I would love to customize for that true performance look that I love.
