Ford's Harley-Davidson range is set to be expanded to the F-450 for the 2009 model year, a number of prototypes have been spotted over the last few months and here is the latest showing the model in full showroom trim.
To set it aside from the regular F-450, the Harley-Davidson version will get a few exterior eye candy modifications including plenty of chrome inserts, a unique set of wheels and blue flames going along the side panels starting from the just behind the front wheel arches and extending beyond the double cabin. The interior is likely to be laced with the usual Harley leather black leather upholstery, but don't expect any changes to the 6.4-liter twin-turbo diesel power unit.
We expect pricing to come in somewhere around the $60K mark when it is released later this year.

I like it, but unlike a year ago where I would have coveted something like this, I no longer see a point.

What are people trying to tow that a 250 or 350 can't handle?

Their ego?
As stated above, the real story here is how ill-timed the damn thing will probably be. The usual winter spike in #2 (diesel/heating oil) prices should arrive about the same time this appears in dealer order sheets in the northeast...

Gooseneck dump trailer?

I've honestly never thought of a 450 or 550 as a 'prestige' truck - I've never known anyone who didn't need one to buy one. I have seen plenty of guys buy a 250 or 350, hell even a 150, when they didn't need one.

Big boats, some of the shops around here even use F-650s and CXTs also.

Ahh, every time I see those Ford HD trucks, I still want to PayPal $5 to whichever dude at Ford had the magnanimity of thought to put the headlights at the bottom of the housing.

Note the Texas plate. Those crazy phuckers pump their own oil out of their yards.
And how does Ford manage to make every new vehicle uglier than the last? It amazes me.

I agree.
My old superduty (unlifted, unloaded) would get headlight flashes from some lower slung sedans and sportscars at night. Every time, I would just apologize in silence....

Re: (ATL_Av8r)

Is the TCL still under the impression that no one that buys a truck actually has to haul anything with it?
