do audi a4s start to grind 2nd gear syncro whent he clutch plate starts to wear out? i know some cars do this when the clutch is about to go, and some need new syncros, just wonderin if anyone has had similar probs before a clutch swap

My second clutch is slipping now, and I don't have any grinding. Didn't last time either.

Kinda off subject, but I had a 2000 Jetta GLS VR6 pretty much brand new and had problems with 2nd gear synchros. Would grind with the clutch fully depressed. And btw, my A4 has about 100k on it and no problems w/ transmission.

My 97 A4 had a 2nd gear grind from the day I got it. After I had the car for around 3 years I was leaving the highway, went to 2nd & it poped out of gear. After this 2nd was useless. I had the syncros replaced & now the tranny is perfect. The clutch also had a lot of life left on it.
