They should be pretty close if not identical. I had a Mk6 gti and I'm pretty sure the windshield, doors, hatch are all the same. I know the sunroof controls are interchangeable. You'd have to look at the overhead lights, and I'm not sure if the fabric is the same, it may be darker
They use a darker shade of material, titan black or some nonsense...

152k fresh oil change. Had to use 0w-40 Mobil cuz amazon can’t seem to get oil from the next town over here in less than a damn week. At least it was with prime.

Also during my usual checks. I found that my small fan had broken some how...

Which explained the odd noise while on our road trip recently.

Also have a leak from my front diff, but thankfully it looks like it’s coming from the fill plug.

Guess I’m doing the front and rear diff services a little earlier than 40k, oh well, and with the small fan next weekend....

152k still.
Replaced both fans today.

It’s was not as straight forward as the OE manual made it out to be.

Things were going well. I got the four T30s out easy peasy.

But then we ran into clearance issues.
The AC compressor and SAI pump hit the small and large fans, respectively.

So out came the SAI pump and the AC compressor was released off the bracket and left the lines hooked up.

Once all that was out the fans came right out.

Then it was a simple matter of zipping off 6 10mm nuts, popping the wire clips and swapping the fans.

I have included the parts I used from FCP, they are BEHR/Mahle.

154k

Drain and filled the the front and rear diffs. Man, I really hate the front fill plug.

Gotta say, the front oil was WAY worse than the rear, it was a dark brown vs a honey color for the rear. You could smell the difference too. Suppose I’m switching to a 30k interval...

Also gave her a good rinse. Also washed up the mess underneath from the front diff.

Oh, I also noticed the front crank seal is leaking again. Got 90k out of this one.

Messy front diff....

Ordered ball joints, inner and outer tie rods and subframe washer kit with new bolts and front lower control arm front bushings. Added to the alternator and Meyle rear bushings it’s gonna be a fun weekend. Hopefully the tie rods and all that get here in time.

Ordered the front crank seal and 034 street density motor mounts. All should be here this week. I’ll likely be doing an oil change with the work also

Work has begun but there’s so much to do.

Jobs fully completed:

Front crank seal and alternator replacement (without putting the car in service position)

Partial work:

RF control arm rebuild the front bushing looks like it’s going to be a bear.

Motor mounts loosened.

Tie rods are disconnected just need to pop the inner out.

Hope I can pick this back up Sunday....

The front bushings weren’t as bad as I thought.

I’ll spare you the details. But after some sorting out, all that was needed was as a table vice and plenty of lube, with some adapters fashioned to work.

The inner tie rods were super easy. With the wheel and fender liner off it was a breeze.
