It's often said that the Freestyle is essentially a 500 wagon, and that seems to be the case, but what differences actually are there that makes the Freestyle look so trucky?
It's 4.5" taller overall. I know some of that is the roof rails and some is the tires (they're one notch larger all around). Is the suspension higher, or the body?
I find it intriguing because it's the only actual old school full size American station wagon left. Sure, it's FWD/AWD with a V6, but the V6 makes as much power as the old small-block V8s did, and otherwise it's just 4000lb of big Ford.
No, I'm not buying one.
