yeah, this is true. The main concerns to tend with are the mounting (have to fab a tranny mount) and drive shaft length (need custom ones. You also have to fit the mk4 shift box. Other than that it's gravy.
Or you can buy a EuroSpec 6 speed new tranny which is a copy of the VW Motorsport tranny. It bolts right up to a VR and you don't have to do anything except have $2300. That's what I'm doing.
