81 Scirocco FULL RACE car GONE!!!

SOLD. :(:( thanks for looking. merry holidays to you!

image sharing[/IMG]time has come for this guy to leave my garage. this is a no holds barred, full out VW racecar for SPO or ITE. if you want to eat vipers, vettes, 911turbos (you name it) in a VW, then this is for you. OK. let's talk about it:

custom cage with nascar style driver's side
recaro pole position seat
original steel roof, floor pan and firewall

fully profiled underside with immense diffuser. aluminum skin on steel sub frame
fabcar aluminum skin wing from IMSA GTP car (i don't remember which one)
slope mounted radiator with exhaust over hood
front mounted intercooler with exhaust over hood
vented arches front and rear

all work done by Mad Hatter Aero and Precision Motorsports

14 gallon ATL fuel cell

motor:
20V 1.8t AEB

cat cams
wiseco forged pistons

RMR intake manifold
gt3071R turbo

VDO tach with shift lights

suspension:
suspension points are all tied in directly to cage (rears are built off of the cage not through the sheet metal)
Bilstein fully threaded RACE (not street stuff) coilovers 2.25" ID hypercoil springs (currently 700lb/in front and 350lb/in back)
Shine racing rear anti roll bars (two installed)
shine racing camber plates back
custom upper camber plates in the front with heim joints (these are higher than the regular strut towers by about 1.5" for more travel)
16" X 9" kosei k1 wheels
15" X 8.5" kosei k1 wheels

brakes:
AP lockheed brakes front
2 piece rotors/aluminum hats iron slotted disks
performance friction 93 compound pads
cockpit adjustable brake bias

there is just too much to list. i'll put on some pictures.

i had some stuff here, before about no low balling and no offers of trades. well, i need the money or else i have to get a different street car. so, if you've got an interesting trade, i guess i am interested, too. nothing old. it's got to be a daily driver. i'd prefer a jetta diesel wagon. but i like CCs a lot, too.

i hope you like my ultimate old school scirocco

Yeah, I bought everything: hood, hatch doors, fenders and quarters, and the Kamei front spoiler, but not your spoiler ;) Tom told me it was yours anyways...

What kind of transmission do you have in the car, if you don't mind me asking?
Free bump for an awsome car, done right!
If I didn't hold myself back, I would be tempted...;)

ah, come on, don't hold yourself back:laugh:

i seem to remember 02A but that doesn't sound right. what was the stock tranny in the corrado? it's that rebuilt by shine racing with a quaife . no, i don't mind asking at all. i also converted it to a juice clutch rather than the cable one. the gearing works quite well for NHIS and Limerock although it appears, by my calculations, that it will run out of gearing a bit before the end of the strait at limerock, but this is just a pretty simple calculation because i don't have a good estimate of Cd.

i've got lots more pics if anyone's really interested. if i had to, what do you think i could get for just the motor? i could always build another one of those. the chassis i don't think i could ever find the resources to again do.:(

Wow... awesome car!

Bump for a great seller. I purchased an unobtanium VW from this gent in the past.
thanks, sir. yeah, this guy purchased one of three US spec Rallye Golfs in the world. it's probably the only one that still exists, i imagine. you should at least post a pic of it here so we can see it.

yeah. well, it's not exactly this car. it's this car when it was built a little differently. not so, um, nice. it used to have a g60 in it and i did all of the work in my garage which ended up with a pretty duct tape type car. it was heavier then and worse aero. but you can see that, even then, it was keeping up with and beating vipers. the video is very short. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdpQ6On7sRc
there's another, also.

that being said, the newer version is about a gazillion times better.

Thanks... enjoyed it. The corner that you started the video in is where I spun out (in the rain) and thought for sure that I was heading for the wall. Thankfully the wall is a long ways from the outside of the corner.

I like the new Scirocco... all functional. Out of my price range for racing. Best of luck!

which one? the rallye or the scirocco? say it's the scirocco. say it! just kidding. they're both very nice. a bit different natures.
Lol. They are both very cool, but I LOVE the Rocco. I had a 81 Rocco track car for a few years. Such a great looking, lightweight, fun car at the track. I wish I could own this, but I have all my money wrapped into a 325i track car at the moment. Again good luck with your sale. some one will be getting a very sick car for sure!
