I've been a VW guy for over 20 years, but relatively new to water cooled. I ran a 73 super beetle in SCCA autocross for several years. I now run a 96 Camry in the IMCA Sport Compact class. It is over weight and underpowered. But it was cheap and ready to run and learn. Yesterday I got an 83 GTI in a condition no suitable for resto, very good for racing. I'd like to hear from people on what's the widest tire that will fit with stock snowflakes, and what sort of power is it possible to get from the stock motor, unaltered. The rules are restrictive, really just stock everything. But FV cars get way more than 40hp from a 1200. I'm hoping light weight. Will make the difference combined with great handling. Thanks for now, more later, Greg.
