Hey guys I got somebody who wants to sell me an 84 GTI convertible. Can anybody give me more info on them, like hp, reliability, etc. He's asking for $3500 CDN, I haven't asked about mileage or anything yet, I want to find out a bit more info about them. Any and all info you can give would be much appreciated, and maybe some pics? Thanks!

GTI convert? That is a straight cabriolet(not a bad thing). GTI cabby's dont exist...do a search on "GTI" in the golf 1 forum and it should bring up hords of info that people asked for just like you...

to keep from getting too technical, the Cabriolet IS a GTi. Same GTI head and engine, slightly different tranny... 4k vs. 9a... you'll not euro and most canadian models all say GTI Cabriolet,,,

Engine should be as following:1781cc with 8v SOHC solid lifters
Performance:90hp and 105ft.lb. torque
Acceleration:0-60 10.3 sec
Transmission:9a (020 series)
Ring and Pinion:3.64:1
Suspension:independent whell susp. McPherson strut on front, rack and pinion steering

What else do you want to know?
