Re: 89 VW Jetta 1.8 swap with a 2.0 (bschrader2)

2.0 what? 8v?16v? IMO 2.0 8v isnt worth it, only 115hp and piles of work to wire it properly. 2.0L 16v 134hp well worth it and will more easily work with digi2. There is a DIY in the 16v forum. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Thanks man, seems like a crazy budget though do I have any other options even with the 1.8 i have. Appreciate it all

Well you could put on a dual outlet manifold and a decent exhaust system. Also a cam would pep it up a little. Keep in mind that an ABA bottom end swap isnt all that expensive, mostly just the price of the block and a couple other minor things. You should be able to find an ABA bottom end for less that $400 anywhere.
