Is there any difference between the 8V and 16V stock spoiler on the bottom of the front bumper? Mine is getting mangled with all the snow and I'll probably need a new one in the spring.
I always see people advertising their "16V" spoilers for sale, but I can't really see any difference between those, and the 8V or Jetta's.........?
Anyone know?

I think the 16v ones have little inlets on the outside edges. and arent as low as the VR6 ones. The 8v one is just a plain jane lip (my personal favorite, next to a Rabbit style chin lookin thing under a small bumper car)

Ok..if you're talking about the Big bumper spoiler. No there is no difference, the ONLY difference is a regular GOLF spoiler vs. a GTI spoiler..the GTI spoilers (8v or 16v) are the same size. The difference is the golf vs gti like i said.....i was confused about this too before, i always thought the difference was 8v vs 16v....but its not.....i found out at the dealer.....maybe i COULD be wrong..but it makes sense...

No. I think you are right about that. I too, have not been able to tell the difference between an 8v and 16v spoiler. The golfs are Definitely lacking in size, but I noticed that almost every Jetta w/ big bumpers has this spoiler too.
Maybe it's a Canadian thing........ but oh well. Easier for me to replace then!!
