If you're lowered, then you want to run a 205/40 otherwise you will rub and the tires will look at a little balloonish. 205/45/17 is the standard MKIV tire size for 17" rims, which is why my fiance and I can't swap rims whenever we please (she has an MKIV 1.8T). Your ET is fine though.
