how do i program a key fob on a 98 golf

You need 2 cut keys and 1 or more remotes.
1. Place first key in ignition and turn ignition "on", do not start engine.
2. Place second key in drivers door lock cylinder, turn and hold in unlock position until you hear confirmation beep, then let go of key.
3. hit unlock button on key fobs you are adapting, you should hear a confirmation beep after each fob.
4. Hold key in drivers door lock cylinder in unlock position again until you hear confirmation beep. Key fobs should be programmed.
