im new to this site & have been lurking for a while. i bought a 99 jetta automatic from a auction. it was stolen & abused. i noticed a thick goldish grease leaking from the front of each of the 4 doors & underneth the doors when u open the door. It is in the engine compartment near strut towers & top of firewall. i went under the car & noticed it in of all places inside the 3 or 4 inch square frame bars that travel the length of the car. it is on each side of these frame bars from front to back. it is coming out of little circle holes. im not sure if this may be axel or gear oil for the tranny. any help is greatly appriciated & needed. thanks in advance john

It's not grease. It's an anti-corrosion material that is injected into the body panels. The condition is worse on darker colored cars. When they sit in the heat of the sun, the stuff gets hot and drips out of the drainage holes in the doors.
No need to worry, it's normal.

to jjwalker: RISC601 is 100% correct. The hotter it is, the more of it you'll have coming out of your car. Clean it up with a towel you dont care about and throw it away as its really difficult to wash out of anything. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
