So I called someone about a G60 they had for sale (if your reading this, HI!), my first C. Anyways, he said that some sort of valve had gone bad on the condenser, but he fixed it. However, he has not yet gotten a recharge.
So, asumming I do buy it and a recharge doesn't work, what would the worst case scenario be? And how much do competent VW shops normally charge for a refill?
Thanks,
Natty
Oh, I'm sure I may have more dumb questions down the road, and even more if I buy it

Re: A/C question (Natty)

There are no vales on the condeser, what he MAY be talking about is the High pressure switch that has tendency to blow the top off and leak all the freon out ( located right in front of the battery). If that is the case then you can do like I did and retrofit the A/C to R134A and lower the cost of the freon that you put in it. I did this myself so the cost was $0. Worst case would be that you need every part on the A/C system which is highly unlikely but it is something that your just gonna have to charge the system and see if everything works ok. The compressor is the most expensive part of the A/C system and the most apt to fail. It's hard to tell what it needs without getting a pro opinion which doesn't cost much to have the system checked.
