When I was shopping for a new car in April of 2006 I went though plenty of options before I arrived at the 6. I needed something practical with a little bit of grunt, something that handled decently and rode comfortably. I needed something that could get me to and from college with most of my life packed inside. The 6 was that car. Times change.
A certain set of wheels has been on my radar now for a solid year. It's an award recipient, a comparison winner and a Mazda fanboy's subcompact wet dream. For as long as this car has been available, I've been singing it's praises. So what was stopping me? The color choices! Enter the 2008.5 Mazdaspeed3 in Metropolitan Grey and Crystal White. Yes, please!

i sometimes think i really should have looked harder at a MS3 before i bought the GTI but i'm rather happy with my choice

The pictures don't do it justice. It's a very rich grey, with lots of deep blue fleck in it.

I'm a sucker for grey. The 6 was grey, the girl's RX-8 is grey... grey grey grey.
It's just a shame so many people have bought into it. Silver is the new beige, and grey is the new silver.

I had to bump this out of my own amusement: The trip computer is addictive. I haven't had one since the Passat and I'd forgotten how fun they can be.
I could swear I looked down at one point while I was dashing down an on-ramp today and the instant consumption read "WTF."
